Magiew,
Actually, they do not intend on replicating what happened in China here. You see the Progressives believethat they are both intellectually and morally superior and have the one TRUE vision of the utopian society. Mao, if you listen to them, did not go far enough. It is impossible for them to envision the failure of their attempts to "devolve" (Cass Sunstein) America into an enviromentally sustainable, classless," level playing field", atheist, subservient, non-questioning, politically and socially controlled "democratic" (communist) society. It is only in this way in which the government assigns your value to the whole, instead of the value of the individual, can humans be free to enjoy a utopia devoid of self-initiative, independent thought and beliefs, and individuality. You may look at their views as being morally objectionable and not compatible with the human spirit, but, I can assure you that they truely believe in a forced "utopia" as being the solution for all of man's problems.

Has anyone had the presence of mind to tally the number of deaths in this World by governments perpetrated on their own people this past century? This figure alone would tell just about the whole story. I am not talking about civil wars....strickly annilations of citizens - i.e. Russia, China, Iraq, Africa and so many others. Civil wars might be hard to evaluate, but mass graves, etc. these are genocides, and if totaled should stagger the imagination of a sane person.

I am a HUGE fan of Mathew Vadum. I discovered him when I joined Twitter...if someone asked who I wanted to have dinner with tonight, it would be Vadum (you too Mr. H).
Nothing is 'by chance' in his articles. Knowing his work as I do, that photo is no accident, nor is the last sentence. I always look forward to finding the laugh out-loud moment in his articles.
Matthew Vadum is on twitter at @vadum.
