Robert McChesney's War On The First Amendment

Robert McChesney, former editor of Monthly Review, a leading Marxist publication, has dangerously close ties to the Obama administration, Glenn Beck said on his TV show last week. McChesney created the “media reform” organization Free Press, and served on the board of Norman Solomon’s Institute for Public Accuracy. He remains on the board of Monthly Review, which has a half-century history of supporting Communist movements and regimes.

Echoing President Obama’s media diversity czar Mark Lloyd, McChesney supports Venezuela’s Marxist strongman Hugo Chavez and that country’s crackdown on the media. He even argued that owners of an opposition TV station that had been critical of Chavez should be arrested for treason.

Referring to the United States, McChesney has said

Any serious effort to reform the media system would have to be necessarily part of a revolutionary program to overthrow the capitalist system itself. Also, there is no real answer, but to remove, brick by brick, the capitalist system itself, rebuilding the entire society on socialist principles.

“Well, why not? We’re all socialists now,” Beck added mockingly. “We need to do whatever we can to limit capitalist propaganda, regulate it, minimize it, and perhaps even eliminate it.” Beck quoted McChesney again: “The fight against hyper-commercialism becomes especially pronounced in the area of digital communications.” McChesney wants to “reform” the Internet too, he noted.

“Here is yet another far-left radical who hates capitalism,” Beck said.

Beck explained that McChesney’s Free Press group worked with Obama to help develop his tech policies. Free Press has had at least three meetings now with the Federal Communications Commission to work on new Internet regulations. FCC chairman Julius Genachowski chose Free Press spokeswoman Jen Howard as his press secretary.

Free Press also put out an anti-free speech tract called “The Structural Imbalance of Talk Radio.” Of Free Press, Beck said:

They do know Mark Lloyd, because that’s the book that Mark Lloyd — and in that book they argued for the government to remedy the problem of conservative voices on talk radio by, among other things, forcing commercial owners who fail to abide by their rules to pay a fee that would subsidize public broadcasting.

This is exactly why, if we end up winning, we will have to put an end to this crap. I am so sick of neo commies claiming to be one thing and doing another. The media has provided them cover long enough. Finally, a network, along with a new media exposes them by using facts and logic. In turn, they move to silence those critics all while singing” open mindedness, fairness, free expression of ideas, inclusiveness, blah, blah, lie, lie, lie”. WHERE the HELL have all of the good Americans gone? Are we Idiocracy? Are we now so engrossed in reality, brainless TV that nothing else matters? When I was younger, I thought Logans run, 1984, The peace authority, The handmaidens tale; were all scary science fiction. I didn’t know I was watching documentaries of the future of this republic.

“Also, there is no real answer, but to remove, brick by brick, the capitalist system itself, rebuilding the entire society on socialist principles.”

And just who exactly does the removing, and by what means? Well, we know by historical examples that rebuilding a society on socialist principles requires a dictator employing murder and theft–two elements that Marxists don’t like to mention as integral factors in their revolutionary equation.

I think that the many years of silent majority apathy has taken it’s toll. With the the infusion of tea parties and individuals such as Beck, conservatism is sprouting.

My concern (from ignorance) is how much damage our education system has done to our society, beliefs, culture and interpretation of the Constitution.

When we see the blatant attempt to disassemble the Constitution to provide an ideology for a leftist political agenda, it only provides nourishment to grass roots activism.

Keep up the good fight. There’s hope for November 2010.

When we win, and we will win, we should make being a commie and a socialist illegal, and deport anyone who practices those political systems.

We should get back to our free press, freedom of religion, and make people responsible for themselves again.

    Julie,
You are correct. I am now just beginning to discover the influence of Leon Podesta in many of these orgs. He has been quietly behind the scenes with Soros building and funding many of these malignancies. It is fascinating how long he has actually been in the political scene but not glaring so as to call attention to himself. Van Jones was immediately moved to the Center For American Progress on his White House departure where he can continue the green jobs program behind the scenes, quietly, without public scrutiny or knowledge. Like many in these orgs, they have been working hard, organizing and funding and expanding the ideology that will disasemble the U.S. constitution and institute a socialistic government. I am so angry that I was part of the problem allowing this slow slide into hell to occur due my lassitude and non-involvement in my government. I like many others assumed that everything would just continue along as usual and that everything would be ok. When things were bad and going the wrong way, we did not stand up and raise hell. We had Republican and Democrat administrations slowly, insidiously destroying this country while we basically gave up in disgust of our elected believing that we could not do anything to stem the government growth and destruction our country/ideals. The past nine months have been an eye opener for me. I now know that the future depends upon me and you becoming the solution and standing firm in the knowledge that exposing the fraud and eventual outcomes of the Obama administration are the priorities. Glenn Beck and others are just the beginning. Turn off the TV, get involved, make some noise, stand firm and don’t give up on the ideals that you hold to.If you have children, teach them about your beliefs, the countries origins and that what is taught in school is to be discussed with you so that you can correct the socialistic and anti-American, anti-religion ideology that has become woven within the fabric of our education system. Obama doesn’t need us. He has our children as a captured audience and future army of socialists.

Your second sentence directly contradicts your first sentence. In advocating a political system in which leftist views are not merely wrongheaded but illegal you’re advocating a totalitarian state entirely at odds with the principles of the constitution and the founding.

You are so right David (no pun inteneded;-)!

The Obomber communists and socialists MUST be marginalized and made ineffective, but not silenced.

We need to let these jackanapes yammer on as much as they want, that way we know who they are and where to find them;-)
