To leave this place to Bin Laden and the Taliban to reinstitute as a planning and staging ground for attacks on our country would be a very bad decision that we would pay dearly for in blood. I took pride in the fact that we stood with the citizens of Iraq, freeing them from their evil dictator & helping them build a democrasy. Any time the terrorists are forced from occupation it brings us a step closer to our goal of eliminating them. My fear is that our current President has not indicated this is a priority of his, nor shown much strength or leadership in this area. I just think that without this, we will be fighting a losing battle. I know our battle is just & neccessary, I guess I just don't have much faith in our current leaders. He's always been a loud-mouthed, abrasive commentator- with an unpleasant voice and a disturbing way of simplifying every serious issue so that personality- or his cartoonish construing of personality- and the "original sins" of conservatives can be made to explain everything. I do think that you and other MSM watchers do a service, but to be nakedly self-centered, I'm glad it's not me who has to suffer Lil' Chris and the ever more odious Keith Olberman. Just in case staunch liberals think conservatives can't tolerate liberal giving their opinions, I'd offer Juan Williams as an example of someone conservatives have no trouble hearing out. The liberal line forever was that it was America's fault that Afghanistan fell into chaos because we didn't nation build after we helped the Soviets leave. Of course, it's ALWAYS America's fault, and liberals would always have done something different-- just like they always prefer the war we aren't fighting to the one we are. Frankly, killing al Qaeda is the only interest we have in Afghanistan. Democrats keep saying "Afghanistan isn't Iraq." Well, a year ago, according to them, IRAQ wasn't "Iraq" either. And while George Will's proposal is not well thought out, I think the pattern to follow should be El Salvador-- in other words, we have advisors and Special Forces who can kill bad guys and train the Army, but we don't really care enough about what kind of friendly country they are as long as they are a friendly country. It worked in El Salvador without much American blood or treasure. But, you have to have rules of engagement that allow the SEALs, etc, to kill the bad guys.
