Paul Cooper is a husband and father above all else. With a wife and 2 daughters he could use a dog, but sadly he only owns a cat – a female cat no less. Paul is also a pastor, blogger, and business owner. Find him on Twitter.

David Shuster might be best known for having been suspended from MSNBC news after saying that Bill and Hillary Clinton had “pimped out” their daughter Chelsea during the 2008 election.  He is also known for hosting MSNBCs “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.” However, I think David is auditioning for a job on President Obama‘s staff.  He wants to be the Racism Detector Czar.

I’m a not a drinker.  And I don’t promote drinking.  Nevertheless, if you are one who plays drinking games, go see how many YouTube videos you can watch of David Shuster before he calls out someone for being a racist. If you take a drink each time he drops the race card, then you’d better have a designated driver.

During the 2008 election, David Shuster had to try to convince Eugene Robinson (another MSNBC analyst known for hurling wild accusations of racism) that McCain’s famed “celebrity” ad about Obama was racist.

In July, Shuster questioned if Liz Cheney was a racist simply because she wouldn’t actively join the fight against “Birthers” — even though she said she wasn’t one of them.

In August, Shuster even cheered on a left-wing extremist who does sportswriting for The Nation, who said that those who questioned the propriety of allowing hermaphrodite track-and-field star Caster Semenya to compete among women were “twisted, sexists, racist, and hetero-normative.”

This past week, Shuster echoed Maureen Dowd’s assertion that Congressman Joe Wilson had shouted, “You lie!” at Obama based on racism.

In that latest segment, Shuster said more:

I’ve heard from so many people the fact that Joe Wilson is from South Carolina … It strikes a lot of people as awfully close to the idea that maybe there was some sort of racist or bigoted element there. And especially then when you look up at the picture and you see older white men, all Republicans, sitting there. Just it gives off a strange vibe.

And tonight David Shuster filled in as host on Countdown with Keith Olbermann.  The first story he covered was on the 9-12 march on Washington. Predictably, he was quick to say that the protest was based on racism against America’s black President. He conveniently made sure the producers only displayed footage of hateful posters — though he failed to note that not one of them actually said anything racist.  Somehow a poster comparing Barack Obama to Karl Marx or Adolph Hitler makes one racist.

Someone like David Shuster could keep his job only at a worthless outfit like MSNBC, where he has plenty of company from other talking heads who reflexively call people who disagree with the President “racists.” These fellow broadcasters include: Chris Matthews, Keith Olberman, Eugene Robinson, Tiki Barber, Rachel Maddow, Mika Brzezinski, Tamron Hall, Ed Schultz, and the list goes on.  This propensity for name-calling may explain why MSNBC is not merely a cable news network, but a failed cable news network.
