The Left is in a snit about Rep. Joseph Wilson’s interruption of the president’s health care speech last night. MSNBC’s Ed Schultz called it, “One of the ugliest moments we’ve seen in American politics in a long time, or ever…calling the president a liar on national television!”[1, 2]

Schultz then brought on Rep. Maxine Waters, D-CA, who long accused the CIA of selling crack in black neighborhoods.

1. Though poor etiquette when practiced by anyone, one can think of worse moments in American political history: the Dred Scott case, the Brooks-Sumner Affair, etc.

2. The Left also seemed to forget Cindy Sheehan‘s vocal outburst at the 2006 State of the Union address. Sheehan, who was the guest of Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey, D-CA, interrupted the president during the most watched speech of the year. This coincided with a campaign by Code Pink to gather in any public place airing the speech and drown it out. A CP action alert stated, “We want to give everybody a chance to drown out the State of the Union with our own noise!!!”
