Others here at NewsReal blog have already artfully analyzed President Barack Obama’s speech last night, in considerable depth and with great sobriety. Of all the reactions I’ve seen so far on the “right,” however, the one that surprised me most came from FOX News host Sean Hannity.
That Hannity is no fan of the President’s policies is an understatement. Yet I don’t think I was the only viewer who was startled by Hannity’s no-holds-barred commentary yesterday evening.
Among other things, Hannity called the President’s address “an attack speech that could have been written by James Carville,” one “full of partisan hackery.”
Now, President Obama both lectures Americans and hypocritically attacks those who disagree with him. Hope and change gave way to cynicism and intimidation tonight, for this president lives in a world where only he tells the truth and everyone disagrees with him — well, is either a liar or a thug.
Needless to say, the intern stenographers employed by billionaire socialist George Soros at Media Matters were dutifully typing away last night while Hannity spoke, and wasted no time posting one of their obsessive “rebuttals”.
The trouble is: you can’t “fact check” passion.
I have a feeling that Hannity’s surprisingly harsh mini-monologue last night will be remembered long after all the obligatory eye rolling and ad hominem attacks have subsided over at the Daily Kos and FireDogLake…
