Barack Obama gave the most important speech of his presidency tonight and it was a partisan speech which — as Ed Shultz put it on MSNBC — said to Republicans, “we’re going to roll over you.” We will see if this political calculation works, or whether the Democrats driven by their ideological passions have over-reached and made another political miscalcuation which will bring their numbers even further to the ground.
But perhaps the most remarkable moment of the speech — and certainly the most politically bone-headed — was to single out Sarah Palin and call her a liar because she has dramatized the indisputable fact that when you have governmen-controlled health care you have rationing, and when you have rationing you inevitably create a government bureaucracy which will encourage and then force elderly and infirm people to premature deaths. Palin’s image of “death panels” to capture what is the undeniable truth about the Democrats‘ plans (Greta Van Susteren actually read, on-camera, the passage from the bill which justifies Palin’s claim) was a politically brilliant stroke. In singling her out and defaming her tonight, the president made her the symbol of the opposition to the steamroller he is driving. And that’s the fight she wants and anyone opposed to the Democrats’ socialized scheme should want, too.

Affordable health insurance is an “illogical passion?” Well, okay.
And they thought Sarah was going away…She left Alaska to fight for us full time
She’s gonna kick Obummer’s butt! Can’t wait to watch it unfold! Remember what she talked about a year ago—what it would be like if people voted Obummer in—–and it’s even worse then what she described. Styrofoam Greek columns being hauled away into warehouses…… that pathetic broken record of a speech tonite—-rehashed double speak he’s been pedaling for the last couple years. Sarah’s going to bring him down! Good riddance!
It is evident in the UK that we already have ‘death panels’ – though they operate under other names and some medicos are voicing real concern. Palin is right!
Sarah Palin is the most exciting politician in the World today! Honest, moral and dignified! She is also America’s last hope to stop these lunatics that escaped the Asylum!
Roll on 2012 (sooner would be better for us all)!
Palin-Gulliani in 2012!
Sarah Palin is bright, attractive, articulate, and has successfully opposed corruption. I am tempted to vote for her on those grounds alone, but a word of caution.
When she proposes a healthcare plan which is nothing more than a compromise with what Obama wants then she losses me. I am fed up with Republicans going in the wrong direction, just not as fast as the Democrats. As long as they dish up a lesser of two evils “solution” I will vote for the pure evil. I will vote for the Obamas over the McCains.
If she comes up with a program to phase out Medicare and to privatize Social Security — and better yet to privatize the dollar, then she will have my full support.
The morning after pill is needed for this contortion of facts and thorough abortion of freedom, but not only in the misnomer…”health care bill”. Everyone needs to watch what else is taking place on the floor in both houses this month, and dont miss one uttered commie word of those betraying us left, right and center. What you dont know may kill you.
And what is the answer? VOTE ALL DEMOCRATS OUT OF OFFICE IN 2010!
Why does he continue to try to make her look like an idiot? Why does he even mention her? Why bring this up? Because HE IS SCARED OF HER! He knows she resonates with the majority of people in this country, and that is very frightening to ‘ol gotta-stay-in-power-at-any-cost Barry.
And yet, with all his denounciations of her–Obama is singlehanded restoring Palin’s political future!!
In response to President Obama’s speech, I liked & think it appropriate – the comment from “an angry mobster” in one of the videos I saw two weeks ago…
“How stupid do you think we are?”
Isolate and attack is the commy way, but your so right she baited him. Go Cougar!
camera did not stay on Chuckie S. long enough to see if he had feathers sticking out of his mouth from eating those canaries
those dems are going to need Obamacare to replace those elbows, hips, knees that were so agitatedly active during his speech
Obama does not give a rats behind whether people die. To start with he is in favor of killing babies, the logical conclusion is he wants to kill the elderly and then all that oppose him. That is the mantra of whatever ism he is pushing for.
I’m sure the RINO’s we’ve elected would rather Sarah go away, so they can continue with “bipartisanship” and get a little “piece of the pork” that will thrown their way during the upcoming “Budget Requests”…..
Check One For Liberty,
Sarah Palin has more political savvy in her pinkie finger than The Bammer has in entire left side brain. If she gets the nod in 2012, she is going to light Bam up like the Disney firework display. The best part of that show will be the libs exploding in air collectively. It will be some display of vapid stupidity on parade. To heck with 2012, I’m starving for the side course in 2010 that will make our second pinko and first Allah loving president a lame duck.
The Turban Torpedo
This is such a twisted view I have to question my very perception of it. I agree that Obama should not have called Palin out (which he didn’t even use her name because his aim was at other knuckleheads as well). Yes, he should not have waited until his speech. THis should have been done long ago. It’s really sad that the opposition can do little more than spread lies and distortions and engage in pure fear mongering in an effort to destroy Obama’s plan. I have absolutely zero respect for this tactic. ROLLING OVER the republicans? What a joke! That is exactly what he is NOT doing, and probably what he SHOULD BE doing. Did you even NOTICE that he did not demand the pubic option? He’s been catering to the republicans for no reason. They will never vote for his plan. They will water it down and still not vote for it as they have admitted. Then, when the crap plan they pass doesn’t work, they’ll make him pay for it. He should be running over the republicans, but he isn’t.
Go ahead and tout Palin. We’ll see how that works out for you. Good luck.
Affordable health insurance is not synonymous with free health insurance. Serious tort reform and immigration reform would significantly reduce healthcare costs across the board. Reducing the quality of everyones healthcare to benefit the minority who do not have it (many of which choose not to have it) is not only illogical but contrary to the priciples on which this union was founded. The disturbing trend in this “new age” is to “change” the rules if you can’t abide by them.
Although there are many factors that affect health insurance premium costs (payback on premium investment in markets, numbers of seriously ill vs healthy policy holders and other actuarial indices too numerous to mention) the most significant is the amount of money insurance companies pay providers (institutions and individuals who receive direct payments).
The infrastructure & number of staff required to meet all the specifications of government regulation (over reaching in my opinion) & provider risk prevention is the COSTLY elephant in the room that no one but Republicans seems to get.
Unless that is addressed, health insurance – regardless of who pays for it or provides it will NOT be affordable. Shifting control to the government will not decrease the cost, it will add yet another tier of staff required to write new specifications for government regulation in an area they have no business being.
No, “sir,” what is illogical is breaking a system that is, even with all its warts, the best in the world. What is illogical, sir, is FORCING this ill-conceived socialist plan down Americans’ throats despite every poll indicating that an overwhelming number of Americans are opposed to it! What is illogical is not listening to ANY ideas of the Republicans! Remember the President campaigned on setting a new tone and working with Republicans – yet he hasn’t met with them on health care since April! What is illogical it not recognizing that many of the problems in our current system and why we don’t have affordable health car for some folks, is because of GOVERNMENT interference in the FREE MARKET! For example, how much competition can there be when the federal government mandates that people can buy health insurance across state lines?
Socialism is NOT a principal upon which this country was founded! It is counter to everything that is America!
I second the Palin – Giuliani 2012!
Sarah has said nothing other than market-oriented, patient-controlled health reform.
And I think it’s amazing that she comes out with Medicare VOUCHERS yesterday, and the President felt the need to address that in his SPEECH.
Sarah is the real deal. She is a breath of fresh air. Imagine if we elected Sarah and finally achieved REAL entitlement reform?
I totally agree. This is a man who voted four times against saving babies born alive after botched abortions. And now he’s reassuring us that his bureaucrats won’t deny care to the sick and infirm who he has told us time and again are a financial burden???
How stupid does he think we are?
Yup, you will see how it works out.
Go ahead, keep supporting a socialist, liberal-whacko policy espoused by the most liberal pres. in history. We’ll see how THAT works out for you in 2010 and 2012.
See ya there.
