MSNBC Calls For Conservatives to censor “fringe right” blogs

On Friday’s episode of The Rachel Maddow Show, on a segment called “Nut Roots Conservatism”, guest host Ana Marie Cox called for censorship of blogs like NewsRealblog.com and WorldNetDaily (which is her focus).  She addresses the topic while interviewing the New York Times book reviewer Sam Tanenhaus of all people (not sure why he is considered an authority on this topic – our own David Swindle would have been happy to go on the show.)  Cox and Tanenhaus both are ready to call all moderate Republicans to silence and “reign in” conservative blogs.

See a video of the exchange at MSNBC’s website here.

The focus of the interview is suggesting that conservative blogs are promoting “conspiracy theories” like the Obama birthers. Cox and Tanenhaus draw a comparison to the 1960s when William F. Buckley Jr. effectively wrote the John Birch Society out of the conservative movement by denouncing them as crank conspiracists.  Cox and Tanenhaus claim that there’s no one in the Conservative Movement doing this today. This is a complete lie. “Mainstream,” “moderate” conservatives have denounced the Birther Conspiracy. David Horowitz, NewsReal, Mike Huckabee, and Ann Coulter have all dismissed the notion that President Barack Obama is not a natural born citizen.

The Right has been cleaning its house but has the Left? At no point do Cox and Tanenhaus address all the recent revelations of Green Job Czar Van Jones’ support of conspiracy theories like the American government planning 9-11.  Their discussion seems laughable that when calls are being made for Van Jones to be removed from his position for his support of dangerous conspiracy theories – they decide to focus on Conservatives trying to silence fringe blogs (that hold no government authority) for their “conspiracy theories”.

Perhaps Cox and Tanenhaus should work at checking the Left’s conspiracists before they attack the Right for not allegedly checking their own. It’s not NewsReal Sunday but a particular scripture comes to mind:

3“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Matthew 7:3-5

But who is going to censor MSNBC and the likes of Keith (sl)Obberman, and the lovely Rachael Maddow, when they regularly spill his way left hateful vitriol, and politically correct nonsense (“why would anyone want to profile Muslim airline passengers more than others…?”) e.g. Obermann’s relentless ad hominem disgusting attacks on Pres. Bush.

Nothing reveals the moral bankruptcy of the new Left more than current trends like this, calling for censorship of all political positions and speech of which they don’t approve. Given the ostensibly fundamental belief by “liberals” and “intellectuals” in the primacy of free speech and thought, current demands to squelch all expression of positions which they don’t like is incredibly ironic at best, and unbelievably hypocritical at worst.

The push from the Left for the “Free Speech Bill” (an oxymoron if there ever was one) is just another sad example of their desperate attempt to reel in the inexorably growing political discontent from Conservatives and those who agree with them-else why would they have to try passing laws to force radio stations to play left wing political advocacy? It just kills them that no one wants to listen to the moronic rantings of Ed (the porker) Shultz, Rachael the repulsive, or the drooling lunatic Obermann.

Any person either elected or appointed should be of American values first. I have read and heard this fanatic Van Jones make statements that should have the Government WATCHING him not Hiring him. I enlisted in the service during the Viet Nam War and came home to voices of hate for our doing our duty to America. Today my elected President hires people with un-American values. I should have died back then so as to not have to watch my country change. Double standards have replaced moral leadership. I listened and applauded as our great nation showed the world that in America all are equal. The truth is Americans should be seen, taxed and remain silent. I must have fallen asleep for many years and missed the battle for America. Please be kind enough to let me know the where an when of the battle fought in SILENCE that America lost. Also if there are any survivors please send help to get me back to the America I was born in, I would hate to die on this now foreign soil.

Just as pathetic as comrade pelosi calling on the republicans to “take back” their party from “extremists”. Thats as dumb as Chavez calling for all israelis to revolt against their “murderous government” the other day. When you appeal to your enemies to fight amongst themselves because they are kicking the s@#$ out of you, you are desperate. Hopefully the phlegmatic republican leadership realizes this and takes action. If not, they too should go the way of the dems.

MSNBC, abc ,Is a non issue. people who follow Obama, dont have any creditability anymore. Liberal news stations are clearly in the toilet. just look at their ratings. They are just used up puppets that dont mean a thing to Obama. They will soon join the unemployment lines, and mabe then they will wake up. However so many Americans have suffered, people will never forget their liberal news views, MSNBC will be remembered when we rid this country of all the radical evil.

The only chance for MSNBC to survive is to eliminate the competition.

Why are we even discussing something that is DEAD! The lame-stream mega-glomerate media is IRRELEVANT! Hellllllooooo! That includes FOX!
They are by their very nature of time constraints, print area, and budget demands, behemoths, dinosaurs on their way down the roadside drain on the information highway!
The MGMSM knows this and is desperately struggling to maintain eyeballs while the internet sucks them down the inextricable worm hole of the World Wide Web, stripping them down to their base elements and exposing them for what they are, hypocrites, con-artists, and journalistic frauds, just to name a few;-)

I find it incredibly ironic that the Left now is calling for censorship of any conversations they don’t like! Aren’t they supposed to be about openness, fairness, intellectual honesty, critical debate, etc. etc.

Funny, none of them called for censoring the hateful wacko way Lefty ranters like (sl)oberman when they continually vilified Bush beyond dignity and reason. The stench of their hypocrisy is overwhelming.

Maddow is NOT the voice of reason here. She is the product of an ideologically unbalanced CA University System. A system that teaches the theoretical benefits of Marxism in its basements, while the California government at large struggles with the economic fall-out of Marxism in practice.

Maddow should be viewed as one of the lost generations that have been caught up in the current of Marxist Subversion moving across this country at an ever quickening pace.

If anything is to be learned, Maddow’s arguments reveal the depth at which our MSM have fallen and this should be recognized as a lesson regarding what happens when the guardians of OUR liberty drop their vigilance.
