Peltier's actions that day were reprehensible, but he and his equally rotten cohorts thought they could literally get away with murder. They were guilty of other crimes - hence the arrival of the FBI (after all, an Indian Reservation is federal land, too) to pursue & arrest them for those previous crimes. Peltier, ever violent in nature, responded as only he could/would - with violence. The whole thing ended so tragically. Ironically, had he not resisted arrest - and even if he had been convicted on those previous charges - by now he would certainly have been released from prison. But he deserves to rot in prison for his violent and murderous actions that day, as well, of course, as killing two FBI agents.

God willing, he will NEVER be released. Sure, it's a horrible financial burder on the taxpayer - but that's no reason to release the bastard from prison. I think I really started to detest him even more when all those pathetic Hollywood leftists - with sawdust for brains - rallied around Peltier and his "righteous" cause. "Righteous," my foot!!!

You are obviously a moron. Have you ever done ANY "research" outside of whatever confirms your twisted views? Doubt it.

My name is Mike and I used to be a liberal. One day, Amnesty International sent me a letter asking me to plead for the release of Richard Peltier. They pointed out some misconduct by the prosecution but were somewhat sketchy on the details of the case. So I did a little research. Even the most liberal version of the event couldn't hide the fact that this was an ambush. Two men with hand guns at the bottom of a hill were gunned down by assault rifles fired from the top of the hill. Some tried to say that the victims fired first, but that's a ridiculous claim when you see the terrain. It was clear to me that AI was unconcerned with the murder. I supported them because I thought they helped political prisoners who were jailed for exercising free speech. I was shocked that they wanted to see a violent felon released to possibly kill again. Lately, they've been focused on critique of the US and Israel, while ignoring rights violations from a score of other countries. I haven't supported AI for many years and this was the case that first caused me to question them. I don't consider myself a liberal anymore either.

Truly a miscarriage of justice. They should have died in the electric chair instead of wasting taxpayer money.
