Very stupid behavior. Their superiors decided punishment and gave it. It's finished. If stupidity were a crime 51% percent of the country would be behind bars. The really stupid and ignorant would be working for this administration but only if they didn't pay their taxes. Where as these officers had been putting their lives on the line for so many years , laying down a line between criminals and the public, our politicians have been putting OUR lives on the line for so many years putting out a line to the public, yet we allow and protect them to our own cost. How cowardly of us. What does it say about us where some very insignificant event such as this merits so much attention where absolutely no crime was done,(Just administrative violations). Their behavior was foolish. But what of the fools who crow so loud at such insignificance? Welcome to the 51%. Yes. Very stupid behavior. Their superiors decided punishment and gave it. "Their were four deputies taking pictures, some with cell phones one with a patrol issued camera (that is the reason the picture is subject to open records) and one Deputy stayed in the restaurant," said Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter. "The Deputy that stayed in the restaurant received a letter of reprimand, three (including the one that took the picture) received three days off without pay each and the Deputy that handed the rifle to the waitress had his employment terminated." ---- When you're a cop you don't hand a weapon to a civilian so they can pose for a picture. I have a few questions...were all the cops on duty? Did the cruiser show up at meal time and the others just happened to be there? Did the waitress consent to have her picture taken (looks like she did)? Was the gun loaded? From the comments listed, it seems quite a few are ticked off about this incident. Why not get this ticked off when your elected officials screw up and swindle the tax payer? Give me a break please. This incident , to me, is so trivial its not even worth posting in the first place. They are seen all over town. Of course Uniform removed. It's not hard to identify an un-marked car, 3-4 "buds" all looking like clones, dragging out to the car and like a shot in the dark, gone. Try crusing the freeways at night in big "D". They'll run over you if you're not careful! YES MY DEAR IT IS A BIG DEAL! TABC should be informed about the weapon! That's FEDERAL MY DEAR!
