The phrase should be written, "It is a terrible thing to waste a mind"... to say "The mind is a terrible thing...means that someone doesn't understand that the sequence is subject verb object... not adjective. Now that is wasting words... but quite frankly, those who are following like sheep and not looking at what is happening in the condemnation of The Strength of the Free World, have already wasted their minds. I didn't really have firm political beliefs at that point. The guy made no sense whatsoever. He spun these fantastic, complicated conspiracy theories which he believed could tie together any social ill he imagined. His nonsense, along with his grunting, childish, hirsute supporters in the audience turned me away from left-wing politics. I saw Chomsky speak twice back when I was in University.
