UN chief: "We have just four months (…) to secure the future of our planetâ€
Last night Sean Hannity poked fun at the latest environmental doomsday prediction. As Hannity noted, the statement was so overblown, even Al Gore, America’s most famous prophet of doom, might be expected to roll his eyes.
In his address to the Global Environment Forum in South Korea this week, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged delegates to December’s climate change summit in Copenhagen to “seal the deal”:
We have just four months. Four months to secure the future of our planet.
Questions arise: if Ki-moon really believed this, wouldn’t he be hunkered down with his loved ones instead of flying first-class from New York to Incheon in a carbon-spewing airliner?
And how did someone as prone to making bizarre statements as “Ban Ki-moon, Super Genius” rise to such an influential position?
This is the same man who condemned the anti-Islamist film Fitna, but stayed silent about the deadly Islamist violence that followed the publication of the so-called “Danish Mohammed cartoons.”
Ki-moon also called the United States a “deadbeat” nation — even though the UN wouldn’t exist without America’s generous financial backing.
Not everyone thinks the demise of “the world’s worst organization” would be a bad thing, of course. Mocking Ki-moon’s doomsday hysteria, the observations of the Telegraph’s Nile Gardener are difficult to improve upon:
“In reality, the United Nations can’t even maintain its own headquarters, manage its own books and keep its tens of thousands of peacekeepers under control, let alone save the world. The UN is an extraordinarily badly run institution, rife with corruption and mismanagement, that shields some of the most odious tyrants on the face of the earth. Surely it should be focusing on implementing some much-needed management reform, cracking down on rampant corruption within its ranks, and preventing its peacekeeping troops from raping refugees in war-torn places like the Democratic Republic of the Congo and southern Sudan.”

This is a typical bureaucrat speaking. My translation: “I run a bureaucracy that fails in every element of its mission, so what I propose is an enormous expansion of our power and budget.”
What the global warming fanatics fail to mention is that they have no plan to alter planetary climate, beyond burning less fuel. It is a Malthusian religion that sees humanity as vermin, that dreams of negative population growth, and practices brinksmanship with the thinnest film of picked “facts.” It is truly pathetic that truly wild claims are given such respect in the media, rather than the disdain they deserve.
Move the UN to Iraq. I am sure New Yorkers would be thrilled. Its already a predominatly Islamic body as it is. You can’t even say a bad word about Islam with the UN passing blasphamy laws a while ago. Of course it will be only Islam that is heralded as a Religion.
I say its time to move these guys back home from Satans Lair in America. Into the pristine sands of the middle East no matter how often red of blood flows into its grains, from zelots for a desert bandit who thought he was a prophet of old.

I wonder if there is an underlying motive to the four month agenda. (Naw, underlying motives-not the world’s politicians). THE ONE’S first year of occupying the White House will end in January of 2010 (A Space Odyssey?). This reminds me more of the movie -Spaced Invaders.

To anyone who is interested, Some of you might have seen the two-hour film “The Obama Deception”. For the benefit of those who have not, please go to YouTube and watch it. It is extremely interesting. There have been many people over a period of many years warning us of these events. Two authors I recommend are Ezra Taft Benson (former Sec. of Agriculture for Pres. Eisenhower and author of “An Enemy Hath Done This”) and W. Cleon Skousen (author of “The Naked Communist” and of “The Naked Capitalist”). You can Google them or go to YouTube and watch them. They are both deceased, but their messages live on.
Mr. Skousen has a tremendous article entitled “What the Newly Proposed “Model” Constitution Would do to the U.S.A.” from Law and Order, April 1971 You might also find it as “Crisis in America- Do We Need a New Constitution”.
Here’s the thing. This is a man who understands the danger that global climate disruption puts your children in, and he cares about future of all the world’s children. So of course you have to slam him because he reminds you that you are a nation that eats its grandchildren (Tom Brown, Jr.). Psychologically it makes sense; it’s a form of projection.
Yes, get the UN out of the US, please. And the US out of the UN? Think how much more the organization could get done without American obfuscation.

And for Julie Trevor: the global temperature is not dropping. The increase in global average temperature has stopped (not dropped — two different things) because the oceans are warming and land ice masses are melting, taking up the heat. It’s called latent heat of melting. That heat will soon enough start warming the atmosphere again, and because positive carbon feedbacks are already happening at our currently stable 0.78 degrees Celsius of warming, going any higher is potentially global suicide.
If we don’t reach an effective international agreement in Copenhagen in December (as Swemson pointed out), then we’re probably out of time to prevent catastrophic climate change in our (grand)children’s lifetime.
It’s called the precautionary principle. There’s a chance our (grand)child won’t burn himself at the stove or run out and get herself hit by a car, but we don’t let them play near the stove or the road, because we care and don’t want to take the risk. The whole global warming/climate change issue is no different. Why would you only love and care about your kids on a micro-scale? Why do you put so much of your personal and national energy and effort into slamming international efforts (that will benefit your children, too), which possibly — and, due to the procrastination, probably — condemns their future?
No matter what kind of American you call yourself, you’re still a human being, a living creature, and you will still be impacted by changes in the climate, whether you believe in climate change or not. Sorry, folks.

I’d settle for the a couple of genuine questions from the media i.e. why is global temperature dropping?
At first I thought that he was actually saying that if we wait more than 4 months, the damage will be irreversible, but it now appears clear that he was only referring to the fact that there’s 4 months left until the December confab.
Please don’t interpret this however to mean that I think there is a limit to his stupidity or his dishonesty.

HORSEHOCKY.. There is no CO2 crisis, never was, and never will be, because increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere has at most a statistically insignificant effect on climate change.
