Fox News: Gates says "I don't even like the airplane to fly over North Carolina" in 1996 video
Last night, FOX News host Sean Hannity played portions of a videotaped address Henry Louis Gates, Jr. delivered to a Washington, D.C. church in 1996.
Gates, whose brief arrest last week continues to generate headlines and commentary, is seen speaking at an event promoting his book The Future of Race, which he co-authored with radical Marxist professor and self-described “prophet,” Cornel West.
In the video, Gates accuses then-Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich of racism. Gates says:
Newt Gingrich can come in, that Contract for America is serious. You know what those guys have said? ‘Somehow, while we were asleep, all you white women and all you black people got into the middle class. We are not sure how it happened. But the first thing we are going to do is we are going to shake the tree and any of y’all who can’t hold on, you’re all going back. And the second thing, we are going to set up barriers so no more of you all can get in here.’
Gates also said:
We are trying to end what we call the one n-gger syndrome – you know, this place ain’t big enough for more than one of us.
At one point Gates tells his audience:
What we’re trying to do is end ‘your mamma’ and ‘your daddy criticism,’ which is what African-Americans quite frankly have mastered in for 250 years.
While his precise meaning isn’t entirely clear, the comment faintly echoes Gates’ sarcastic reply to his arresting officer last week, when he was asked to step outside: “Ya, I’ll speak to your momma outside.”
After playing portions of the 1996 video, Hannity spoke to author and former Bill Clinton adviser Dick Morris, who made a surprising admission, telling Hannity:
Before the election, I came on this show when you kept talking about Rev. Wright, and I kept saying he and Obama were two different people.
I think I was wrong.
Morris was refering to Barack Obama’s longtime pastor and spiritual mentor Reverend Jeremiah Wright, an advocate of far-left “black liberation theology” who has blamed “American racism” for the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

nice people, huh?
There was no racism involved — on the part of the cops. The only racist in this story is Gates himself. He acted like a jerk, deliberately trying to create an incident so that he could scream “racism” all over the (left-wing) media.
If he’s an intellectual, then I’m the Emperor of China.
wite peopl are the raicist not blakfolk…….
It is obvious who the real racists are…those who use race as the basis of every argument and ill ever to have befallen mankind. What is most disgusting is that people actually believe that radical propaganda. The Republican Party was built on the equality of all people and colorblindness. The GOP was the party who worked toward ending slavery, while the Democrat party (Copperheads) did everything they could to keep slavery. The GOP (and a few Democrats) fought to pass the Civil Rights Act…a large number of Democrats tried to stop it. Somehow, the Democrat Party was usurped by ultra radical leftists and marxists who have been pushing lies about the GOP for years. The real racists and people who are looking to divide us are on the left–NOT the right. Someday soon I hope the people will wake up and see the truth. Gates is obviously just another elistest leftist who hates this country and hates people who are different from himself.
Gates – another “friend of Obama” – is an obvious racist who has made a living out of race pimping at the academic level. The only good thing to come out of this Gates-designed mess is that Obama’s automatic black nationalist racism has been confirmed in front of all the people in the United States. Since Cambridge has a black chief of police and a black mayor and since the state has a black governor, it is easy to see how the officer was “persuaded” to go to Obama’s photo op beer bust at the White House. If the cop don’t go, Obammer don’t get to stage no show and the duty oriented officer has to go shake hands with the scum-bags in front of all of the suck-up press Obama can muster.
When they put out a call for Educators this Guy thought they said Agitator. Since it was Harvard, no one noticed.
Obama’s Turkeys are coming home to roost.
Racism is human nature. Everyone at one level or another is racist to some degree. Anyone who denies this is not being truthful to themselves or others.
I’m white, and I’m amazed at the outrage all of these people have over this issue. Many African-Americans are still being persecuted and marginalized. Many of you can’t stand that there is *another* African-American that claims there were racial actions fueled by a police officer. It’s not new news, people. Moreover, I can’t believe how many of my own Caucasian people cannot stand that a Democratic, African-American holds the highest office in the nation and happens to be–God forbid–an educated one. Get over your color and let both sides of the argument be heard before you judge an African-American accusing a police officer of issues faster than the either of those parties can judge each other.
Gates is professional Negro. He is a race baiter like the other two less sophisticated race baiters, Sharpton and Jackson.
He seems an angry spiteful little man who can’t just appreciate how well he has done despite whitey.
He is angry because the vast majority of Negroes aspire to very little and are averse to responsibility. Even looking back to the ‘homeland’ Africa, there is no example of a civilized, modern, peaceful, intellectual country. There is nothing but violence and chaos. Closer to home there is Haiti and Jamaica, two shining examples of failed black cultures.
In short, it seems that Skippy hates himself and his race for being such a bunch of dumb sh*ts when they could be far more successful, but then … nothing good comes easy and their just ain’t enough affirmative action to go around … even if there were more takers. But as I said, finding success in a competitive society isn’t easy.
Tyrone, your logic is as impressive as your spelling.
If you truly believe that “blakfolk,” as you so charmingly state, are not :raicist,” you have your head stuck up where the sun does not shine.
It comes from the common tribal roots that early humans used to survive enemies. Likes attract and those who are different are not trusted, but in American whining about your feelings and dignity (if you are black) is a great way to get other people’s money and maybe even a good government provided job. Enough.
Blacks screamed for equality and whitey willingly moved over and made room. But it seem that nothing will ever be good enough to make up for what some of our great grandparents did to some of their great grandparents.
If Mr. Skippy’s house had been broken into by a white or black person, and the police had not responded in exactly the same manner that they did as when he was breaking into his own house, he still would have pulled the race card. Yes, racism (by all colors and cultures), age-ism, fat-ism, etc. exist in the world (and always will), but Skippy has a major chip on his shoulder, especially given his privileged status as a Harvard professor. He was the one throwing racial slurs at the officer who was merely attempting to verify who was breaking into Skippy’s house. You might want to address, in therapy, your own massive feelings of white guilt.
