Frank Rich Is A Major-League Hater

For a member of the liberal intelligentsia who claims to abhor “hate,” the ultra-politically correct Frank Rich certainly spreads a lot of it around.

Recently, the left-wing New York Times columnist justified the shameful Department of Homeland Security report on so-called right-wing extremists that DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano withdrew after a firestorm of protests by conservatives.

Like the controversial DHS report, Rich deliberately blurs the line between mainstream conservatives and libertarians on the one hand, and violent neo-Nazis and skinheads on the other. Right-of-center Americans are somehow responsible for the June 10 shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Museum and the murder of late-term abortionist Dr. George Tiller, he argues. Conservatives share in the blame because they attacked “a plausible (and, tragically, prescient) report,” he writes.

Of course, the report was anything but plausible.

It labeled all conservatives, libertarians, and returning veterans as potential right-wing terrorists. And it was no mere white paper or academic exercise: It directed law-enforcement officials throughout America to be on guard against Americans opposed to enlarging the redistributive state and spreading the wealth around.

Tea party protesters, take note.

Rich also writes that critics of Sonia Sotomayor, the ethnicity-obsessed Supreme Court nominee, are racists. The “venomous personal attacks” on the judge, he says, have little to do with her “wise Latina” speech, her judicial track record, or her membership in the radical National Council of La Raza, and instead signify “an aggrieved note of white victimization only a shade less explicit than that in [Holocaust Museum shooter James] von Brunn’s white supremacist screeds.”

The pathologically obsessed race-fetishist even delights in sticking the knife in recently deceased conservatives.

Five years ago Rich couldn’t help attacking the late President Ronald Reagan while he lay in state at the U.S. Capitol. Even though mourners filing past Reagan’s casket “were often touted as representative of the entire nation, you could nod off counting the white visitors before a black person appeared,” the columnist opined.

Rich also argued that the nationwide outpouring of grief over Reagan’s passing was fake and that media coverage of the death was on a par with the intensive coverage of O.J. Simpson’s murder trial.

Rich also seems to hate Christianity. He savaged Mel Gibson’s 2004 film, The Passion of the Christ, calling it “anti-Semitic” before screening it, yet defended anti-Christian artistic expressions such as “Piss Christ” and a dung-painted portrait of the Virgin Mary.
